Preparations for Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, have gained momentum across Hyderabad with several religious and social programmes being planned in the run-up to the celebrations.
As part of the preparations, a blood donation camp was organised at Vijayanagar Colony in the city on Sunday, where several people came forward and donated blood. Similar welfare programmes are lined up at various places across the city in the coming days, including one at Asafia Library, Afzalgunj, and other venues.
Religious gatherings are also scheduled to be held at mosques and auditoriums as part of the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations. Meanwhile, the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee is engaged in making arrangements for the central procession to be taken out on August 26, and is in the process of obtaining necessary permissions and clearances from the authorities.
