Distressed over delay in government job notifications and lack of job calendar in Telangana, a youth allegedly attempted suicide in Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka’s Madhira constituency.
The youth Gaddam Venu Kumar, an unemployed youth from New Lakshmipuram village in Mudigonda mandal, was engaged in an outsourcing job in Mission Bhagiratha at Mutharam near the village. He reportedly consumed rat poison at his workplace on Saturday to end his life.
He left a three-page suicide note addressed to the State government. In the letter he asked his friends and relatives to share the letter on social media so that it reaches the Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka; Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. One of his friends found the letter posted on a local social media group and informed his parents, who shifted him to a private hospital in Khammam. His condition was said to be serious at present.
Venu Kumar in his suicide note stated that he resorted to the extreme step due to the delay in issuing Group exams notification, for which he had been preparing for the past five years, but was able to appear for the exams only once due to lack of a job calendar.
He said the youth in Telangana elected the Congress government as the party promised to issue a job calendar. But it has not happened. The present government filled up jobs for which notifications were issued by the previous government but failed to release a fresh job calendar.
